Allen Bunk Johnson 95 passed away on May 23, 2023, at his home in Greenville, SC surrounded by his children. Bunk was born on November 16, 1927, in Augusta, Georgia, and moved to Greenville at an early age. He graduated from Parker High School and joined the Marine Corps, where he served for 26 years and retired as First Sergeant.
After his military service, Bunk worked as an insurance agent with Life of Virginia. He was known for his dedication to his clients and his ability to provide them with the best possible service.
In addition to his professional career, Bunk was a dedicated public servant. He was elected to Greenville County Council and served District 26 for twelve years. He was a respected member of the community and was known for his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents. During his time on Council, he also built a real estate rental company and where worked tirelessly until his death.
Bunk married Carol June Bryant (deceased January 2020) in 1956, and they were married for many happy years. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family was the most important thing in his life.
Bunk will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his community, and his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by daughter, Carol Lawrence (David) grandsons Braden, Allen, and Luke Lawrence, son, Brad Johnson, grandchildren Kalyn Johnson and Austin Self and their mother Tami Johnson.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. A private burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West.
