Alvin “Wayne” Simmons, 77, beloved husband of 49 years to Janis Puckett Simmons, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Born in Greer, SC, he was lovingly raised by his late grandparents, Richard and Ella Mae Simmons.

Mr. Simmons proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and attended Brandon Baptist Church. Alvin enjoyed going to the beach, deer hunting, and being outdoors. He loved to watch and root for the Gamecocks football team but most importantly, he was a sweet Papa who will be dearly missed. He was the owner of A.W. Simmons Mechanical Services for almost 40 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Dwain Simmons (Anita); daughter, Autumn Porter (Tim); grandchildren, Brady Stephens, Bella Porter, and Megan Simmons; and extended relatives, Tommy Simmons, and Debbie Simmons Edwards.

In addition to his grandparents, he was preceded in death brothers, John Simmons, and Jimmy Simmons.

A celebration of life reception will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at Paris Mountain Church, 5550 Old Buncombe Rd., Greenville, SC 29609.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of his wife, Janis, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, https://act.alz.org/donate.
