I’m am so sorry to hear of Wells’ passing. He was such a great kid and was so blessed to have you and Carol as parents. It’s been almost a year since Heavenly Father took Wells home but I know the sorrow still is with you all daily. May God be with all of his loved ones and bring you all comfort during those moments.
Archie, we am so very sorry for your loss. Lynn and I just found out about it today or we would have been there in May. I personally didn't know Wells as good as I know you but as you know Lynn did and was very fond of him as she is of you. Wells accomplished so much in his way too short of time here on earth. So much to be proud of! Prayers for peace and understanding for you and all of his many friends and family! I am certain he is in a better place and know you will be reunited with him one day! We know you are and were a great father!
Archie, I am sorry for your loss and that of Wells’ family. I am also sorry for the belated condolences. I remember Wells fondly during our many closing together.
I was so very sorry to hear of Wells' passing. He was always a smiling, intelligent, kind soul, ready with a laugh and a slap on the back. I have fond memories of playing Mustang Football with Wells, and he knocked me on my rear more than once. Archie, your family is in my prayers. Wells made a memorable impact on everyone he met. God bless.
Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your son. As you know, I can relate to the grief you and the family are feeling. Wells certainly lived a fruitful life in spite of his illness. God bless you all!

Your loved ones & friends are all here for you, any time you may need someone, even if it's to just hold your hand. Our love & prayers are with you all...........
Carol and Archie, our hearts go out to you today!!! After losing a loved son in law, I am reminded just how difficult it is to lose a child, so young!! Out memories go back to Foxcroft swim team and Mustang days. At the time we did not fully appreciate all that we had. John and I are in California visiting AnneMarie and her 3 children or we would be with you today, but our prayers and thanksgivings go out to you both and to all of your extended family. Wells fought a vicious foe, but now he’s in peace!!!!
We are so sorry about your loss. May God wrap His loving arms around you and your family during the days ahead. Your son is healed now and in the presence of God.
Brenda and Bernard Price
Dearest Archie and Carol,
Charlotte and I were saddened to hear of your loss. May his memory be a blessing and may he have peace.
Warmly, Charles Zaglin
I'm thankful for the opportunity to spend so much time with Wells. He was a man with a heart but "well" protected because he would set boundaries. I miss our talks about world problems , Steph and his injuries and turnovers his kids Alex. He played a big role in my household and worked with me through many things as we traveled to Pawleys , lake house and around before he felt it was a bit much. I love you Wells and know your listening to Rock music while front row at Stephs games , with Alex every step of the way and seeing Cely and Wells do great things. My Bumpy
With Deepest Sympathy on the Loss of your Son
Wells will be greatly missed. May the memories be your comfort that will be in your heart forever.
Though words, however gentle, cannot take your loss away, still may these words sent in sympathy help comfort you today.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
I learned Wells' name in middle school from his campaign slogans, "Let's hear it for the boy!" and "Panama Jack says vote for Wells Black". I remember him as a quiet but friendly person who was kind to everyone. My heart goes out to his family. May the Lord be with you and comfort you.
I cannot imagine the pain you must be in. You are in my thoughts and all of us will help you bear this sorrowful time. Regretfully, I did not know your son, but I am sure he was a wonderful person. Thank you so much for your service all these years. Love, Cynthia
Archie and Carol,
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Wells. I remember him coming in the office of Long, Black and Gaston when he was little. Cherish your memories and know He is no longer suffering! Praying for your family!
Archie, we are so sorry for your loss. May you know Gods' Love during this time . Benny and Willie Johnson
Wells was one of my favorite young people. He was one of the first swim team coaches at Woody Creek. His enthusiasm was contagious. He inspired swimmers and parents alike. He was an outstanding role model for our swimmers and a true southern gentleman.
Wells was a devoted friend. When my husband had a substation accident, he was at the hospital. He guided me with his gifted knowledge of navigating through law and financial processes. He was a saving Grace. My husband and I never knew how to repay him. Sending his family love and God’s peace. Enjoy heaven Wells! The grandest place. 💜
Archie, I am so sorry to hear of your son’s passing. May God Bless you, and your family, as only he can.
Larry Goodwin
You are all in our prayers. May our Lord bless you and keep you.
Sandra and I were so saddened by this news. Our thoughts are with both you and Archie. Stay strong and let us know if there's anything we can do. We are all too familiar with this horrific disease.
My deepest condolences to the Black family. Wells left this world having touched everyone he met. I have so many wonderful memories of Wells from my youth. The day we first met on the Foxcroft basketball courts, summer days spent at swim team practice and playing cards at the pool, sharing our love of sports and his love of music (Van Halen). His friendship was a gift I will forever cherish. Thinking of you all and sharing in your sadness.
Coach and Mrs. Black, my deepest sympathies. I have the fondest memories of Wells. My time playing Mustang football are some of the greatest times of my childhood. I can never repay the kindness your family has shown me as a kid. All I can say is “thank you”. Though I hadn’t seen Wells in years, I had heard of his battle with ALS. What a terrible disease. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time. Wells represented what was best of Mustang football in my estimation. Godspeed Wells. I will always cherish you as a teammate, which is an even stronger bond than just “a friend”.
The Black family became a big part of my family at Black&Black. My heart breaks for the loss for all of you. He touched many lives with his smile, and compassion.
May God wrap you all in his embrace, and share his grace with you all during this transition.
I had the privilege of being a caregiver to Mr. Black for a short time and I’m so thankful that I had the opportunity to know him and help care for him. He was a strong and kind man who fought ALS fiercely for such a long time. I’ll never forget this brave man who made me have a deeper compassion for people. Rest In Peace now Wells Black and I hope there’s a perfect fishing lake in Heaven for you.
Archie and Carol I am so sorry to hear of Wells death. My condolences and prayers are with you during this time of loss.

Archie and Carol,
My heart and prayers go out to you at this time. I was told of Wells' illness a few years ago and of your dedication you have had to his tremendous athletic abilities. I hope peace will come to you and Carol knowing that the love you have demonstrated to Wells is an inspiration to us all.
Charlie
To Wells and Carol and of course Wells Jr,
I am writing to share my deepest condolences and sending you all my love as you grieve the passing of a wonderful person, a great son, and a loving father.
For me, the memories of Wells go back to early 80s in Foxcroft. Playing baseball, basketball, and nerf football for hours and of course playing pool at his house. Of course Wells was also a great competitor in summer swim meets and always a cool guy to be around - and he really did love Van Halen.
Equally, it was great to see my nephew, Liam and (little) Wells become close friends and grow up together. That connection and continuation always made me happy to think about. He’s an impressive, thoughtful, and mature young man set up do well in life, he should take immense pride in being a great son to his father, and it’s clear to see that Wells will be a good and caring person to those around him. Wells lives on through him.
I know Wells is at peace, happy, and grateful to have loving family and friends.
Take care, Philip

Carol and Archie,
I am truly sorry for your loss. Please know that I am thinking about you.
Praying for you Archie & Carol that God will grant you strength, comfort and peace. Love you!
I met Wells at Christ School, I recall he was one of the first to befriend me in my first days at CS, two a days football practice. He was quick with a smile and always encouraging, Gone too soon, I’ll never forget Wells.
I have fond memories of Wells in our early childhood. It was always good to see him at swimming competitions, after he had moved from Dove Tree to Foxcroft. My prayers and sympathies go to his family.
My most sincere condolences to all of you. I will always remember Wells fondly as he was one the first kindred spirits I found at Christ School—we shared a love of hard, fast music and playing guitar. Wells exemplified strength, fearlessness and intelligence and I’m sure he faced such an unforgiving illness with all three fully intact. God’s grace and peace to all of you.
Carol, Archie and Family: We are so very sorry to hear about Wells. Our love and prayers are with you and the family. Brenda and Jim Wall
So sorry! My condolences. My prayers are with you all.
My prayers are with you all. My life was happier knowing Wells. I’m so thankful that I was able to visit with him a while ago. He was the kindest! He sent me a rose every year through the EHS Valentine’s Day. Thank you Wells for that. My heart is happy knowing that he is pain free and loving life in Heaven. I’ll see you one day my buds…Brad and Wells.
My sincere condolences to your family. I remember Wells from CS as a really good guy (as well as a guitarist and athlete). Sincerely, Jason Cordray '91
Carol and Archie, My heart breaks for you both. You are in my thoughts and prayers, as Wells has been for the past seven years. I can only imagine the heartaches you have experienced. Hang on to the memories of the good times you had through the years with Wells.
