Ashley E. Butler, 37, of Greenville, died on Friday, August 6, 2021.

Born in Greenville, SC she was the daughter of William Archie and Linda Ann Shaw Butler.

Ashley will be remembered for her loving, outgoing, and humorous personality. Always a hardworking and dedicated student, she was a graduate of Carolina High School and received her Medical Assistant certificate from Greenville Technical College in 2013 and was in the process of continuing her education.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two brothers, William Archie McWhorter, and Jamaar Crosby; four sisters, Kwanza Shaw, April Crosby, Onthoni Brooks and her husband, Marvin, and Sharday Butler and her husband, Richard Lyles; God Daughter, Jadyn Redmond; many nieces and nephews, especially beloved Nia Johnson, Jaquavis Lyles, and Kingston Lyles; and a host of extended relatives and friends.

Ashley is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Willie and Alice Butler; maternal grandparents, J. W. Shaw and Mary Putman Shaw; and her very special uncle, William “Weasel” Shaw.

A public viewing will be held Sunday, August 15, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Monday, August 16, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A funeral service will be held Monday, August 16, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.

Ashley was one of the kindest, most heartwarming souls I’ve ever met. I knew her through work and every time I saw her, she had a huge hug for me and an even bigger smile. She could always make me laugh and I always left her with a huge smile on my face. It’s rare to meet someone in life as genuinely caring as Ashley was. I will miss her smile and laugh SO much. I am absolutely heartbroken for you all and sending many prayers to her family. I know she loved you dearly.

I was soooooo saddened to hear about Ashley’s death. I only knew her for about a year as a medical rep for her office. Each time I stopped by, she was always warm, kind, funny, prompt and just great to be around. As reps, we love someone like Ashley who would embrace us and let us help the patients in the office. My sincerest thoughts and prayers to all the family members and friends! ??

I am so very shocked and saddened to hear this. I loved working with Ashley - her sweet personality and kindness were so great to be around. I am praying for the family, friends and coworkers as you guys navigate such a great loss.
