Barbara Childers Stovall

Barbara Childers Stovall, 87, died peacefully on December 30, 2022.

She was born in Greenville, South Carolina on September 24, 1935, to Fred and Francis Shaw Childers. After spending her younger years in Panama City, Florida, Mrs. Stovall moved to Greenville with her family and graduated from Parker High School with a certification in Cosmetology. In 1954, she married Charles Laverne Stovall and became a devoted wife and loving mother.

A woman of strong Christian faith, Mrs. Stovall attended Oak Crest Baptist Church where she was involved in many aspects of church life; including teaching Sunday school, Mission Friends, and vacation bible school. She loved the Lord and knew the value of taking her children to church and guiding them to be good Christians. She took great pleasure in supporting her son in playing and coaching sports, and her daughter in dance. She adored her grandchildren and loved watching them participate in softball, football, soccer, and dance.

Mrs. Stovall also loved to travel and spent many years enjoying trips all over the world in places like Italy, France, Jerusalem, and throughout the US. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her family and walking with her friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Sullivan and husband, Barry; and her son, Chuck and wife, Meg; three grandchildren, Marci Stovall (Atlanta), Brittany Sullivan (Greer), and Matt Stovall (Travelers Rest).

Mrs. Stovall was predeceased by her parents and her husband.

Though our world has dimmed a bit, we know that her joy, her laughter and her light will radiate within us for a long time to come.

The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers at Kempton of Greenville for their kindness during Mrs. Stovall’s time there.

A visitation will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel with the Reverend Dan Green officiating.
