Barbara C. Alexander, 84, passed from this life on January 15, 2024. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Bobby Alexander in 2013. A lifelong resident of Greenville, she was an only child of the late Louise G. Cox and Norman Cox.
A graduate of Greenville High School, class of 1957, she began her working career with a local brokerage firm and married her high-school sweetheart, Bobby, in 1958.
They were married on the Bride and Groom TV Show in New York, NY, hosted by Ed McMahon.
After leaving the workforce for a short period, she resumed her career as executive assistant to Barton Tuck, a local entrepreneur and real estate developer. She enjoyed this association for 40-plus years.
While working and raising a family, she also delighted in annual family beach trips to the South Carolina coast, which she dearly loved.
Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church, Greenville.
She is survived by her son Steve (Patti) Alexander and daughter Kim Alexander, both of Greenville. She is also survived by three grandchildren that brought her much joy and pleasure: Beth Alexander, Whitney Williams, and Jack Alexander, all of Greenville; and great-grandchildren, Tara Kate, Eden, and Rett Williams.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
