Barbara Williams Shaw

Barbara Williams Shaw, 88, devoted wife of the late C. Bruce Shaw, Sr. went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, surrounded by her loving family and countless caregivers.

Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter Wesley Williams, Sr. and Mary West Williams.

Barbara and Bruce were high school sweethearts while they attended Greenville High School. They married at the age of 18, had 5 children, and spent 61 loving years together. She worked in the ticket office for Greenville Memorial Auditorium for over 29 years. Her most cherished time was when she was with her family, both immediate and extended. Barbara especially enjoyed going to concerts, movies, musicals, plays, and Sunday brunches with high school friends and her sister, Shirley Williams Rudisill. She had many treasured memories of summer time at Myrtle Beach with family and friends.

Barbara was a long standing member of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church.

Her legacy will live on with her three children, Linda Lyon and husband, Donald, Mitchell Shaw and wife, Karen, Jackie Pitts and husband, Jonathan; eight wonderful grandchildren, Donald Lyon, Jr., Kristin Lyon Jones and husband, Ashton, Kenneth Lyon and wife, Lindsay, Ansley Shaw Grounsell and husband, Clark, Wesley Shaw, Cory Shaw Mulligan and husband, Tyler, Will Pitts, and Jon Walker Pitts; and 12 precious great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters Lunette Williams Neiderer and Ruth Williams Bradshaw, two brothers Ernest Edgar “Buddy” Williams, Sr. and Walter Wesley “Jack” Williams, Jr., her beloved husband C. Bruce Shaw, Sr., and two sons C. Bruce Shaw, Jr. and Bryan Shaw.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown followed by the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Barbara’s memory to St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, Greenville, and Redeemer Lutheran Church, Greer.
