Betsey Ross Shira, 73, wife of the late George Shira III, died Thursday, May 18, 2023.

Born in Columbia, SC, she was the daughter of the late Bernice L. Ross and Elsiree Keisler Ross.

She is survived by her son, George Shira IV and his wife, Brooke Shira; granddaughters Olivia and Vivian Shira; two sisters, Cindy Libhardt and her husband, Tom Libhardt, as well as Frances Shealy and her husband, Tim Shealy; and a brother Perry Ross and his wife, Melba Ross.

Betsey retired from Clemson University as an Executive Assistant in 2018.

She passed peacefully at the Cascades Verdae Community in Greenville, after a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 26, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown.
