Betsy Agnes Willi, 82, wife of Paul August Willi, died Friday, June 16, 2023.

Born in Charlotte, NC on January 3, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Harold W. Gowdy, Sr. and Edred Truesdale Gowdy.

Though born in NC, Betsy was raised in Lake City, SC and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina. She then went on to earn her Master of Arts in Teaching from Furman University and a Masters plus an Educational Specialist degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Converse College. Betsy worked with children and their families as an educator in the public school system for 30 years and as a mental health therapist for 10 years.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by her son Patrick Andrew Willi of Chicago; daughter, Pamela Agnes Willi of Auckland, New Zealand; brother, Harold Gowdy of Spartanburg, SC; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A private memorial service will be held.

Lieber Paul liebe Trauerfamilie Die Trauer dient dazu einen geliebten Menschen in Herzen zu behalten. Mit diesem Zitat möchte ich Dir Paul und Deinen Kindern mein tiefstes Beileid aussprechen. Betsy was a very special friend….from Nursery school to graduation in 1959 & all the years following….a lifetime friendship. I will miss receiving her emails & friendship all through the years. Marian ♥️
