Betty Martin Putman, 87, wife of Boyce Putman, Jr. of Taylors, died Monday November 21, 2022.

Born in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late George Walker Martin, Sr. and Katherine Powers Martin.

Mrs. Putman was a member of Lee Road United Methodist Church. She was affectionately known to many as “Mama B”. She was a computer operations supervisor for many years with Alexander’s and Cline Company. She was devoted to family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by two sons, Boyce Putman III (Tammy) and Martin “Marty” Putman (Laura); four grandchildren, Brock Putman (Renee), Breana Shepard (Matt), Brittany Putman, and Bryan Putman; three great-grandchildren, Mason Putman; Gunner Shepard, and Oaklynn Shepard; and two sisters, Doris McKinney and Juanita Godke.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Brayden Putman; and siblings, Leland, Cecil, Walker, and Loyce Martin, and Katherine Donaldson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The funeral service will be Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will be at their respective homes.

Dear Family, My husband and I sat across the aisle at Lee Road UMC from your Mom and Dad for many years. I had attended there from 1973-2007 and my husband from 1985-2007. Betty always had the best smile and the fact that she was born in North Carolina made her even more special because my whole family was born there.
