Ms. Betty Lee Robinson, 94, of Greenville, SC, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC. She was the daughter of the late Tobe Sizemore and Pearl Richardson.
Betty’s greatest joy was in being around her loved ones – both friends and family for whom she hosted countless banquets and picnics, and hearing “hey, Bett” and “Aunt Betty” always brought a smile to her face. It was very important to her that the family love one another, remained together, and fellowshipped yearly. She organized the Sizemore Family Reunion, and held the Secretary position for the Gambrell, Garrison, Elrod, and Related Others Family Reunion for a number of years. To make sure that they would be taken care of beyond the gatherings, Betty made sure that food bags were given out to all of the seniors to take home. She was also instrumental in organizing the Carolina Blouse and Fellowship Mission clubs in the community.
Betty was employed by the local mill, Carolina Blouse Company (now Macshore Classics,) Holiday Inn Restaurant, and Service America.
Throughout her life-time, she possessed a deep faith and was active in several local churches where she sometimes served as pianist.
She was predeceased by one sister, Eloise Rutledge and her husband, Marcell; one brother, Cliffton Singleton and his wife, Mildred; and two brothers-in-law, Fostell Rutledge and Willie Lipscomb.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved daughter, Shirley Robinson; companion and caregiver, Allan Robinson; three sisters, Willie Mae Rutledge of Williamston, Emma Jean Johnson of Greenville, and Dorothy Lipscomb of Charlotte; one brother, Tobe Sizemore Jr. and wife, Eva, of Greenville; as well as a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
At the family’s request, there will be no viewing. Flowers will be graciously accepted.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, in the Southeast Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes at 1604 North East Main St., Simpsonville, SC 29681. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 2609 US-29, Anderson, SC 29621.
