Dr. Jim Carrigan left a message on July 15, 2021:
It was my high honor to first come to know Bill Collins in 2009 when I became the pastor of Freedom Baptist Church here in Greenville. At that time, Br. Bill was the chairman of deacons and we bonded immediately. His love for his Lord, his church, his family, and his friends was evident to everyone who met him. In good times and bad, Br. Bill supported me and my ministry. Even after I left the church, we maintained a wonderful friendship: visiting in one another's homes; going out to eat together; and taking the memorable trip to see The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum in Kentucky. Now, my friend is in heaven, reunited with his faithful wife Cheryl, his family, and a host of friends. I will will miss him and think of him often. I'll see you again! To Brian, Sherry and all the family, thank you for loving and caring for your mom and dad through everything during their illnesses. You have much for which to be thankful and grateful. I sure loved them both! You're in my prayers today and all the days ahead!

There is so much to say about Bill that I could not say it all in this space. The photo explains it all. It is a photo of us at my dad's tent during a summer campaign. Bill was more like a brother to me than a cousin. We grew up together, literally from birth, since he was only two months younger than me. We both were born in Salisbury, NC and my parents and his parents worked together for many years, preaching in churches, in tent meetings and on missionary trips together. Bill and I spent every summer traveling with our families in tent campaigns in the Big Green Tent and became very close. We also went to school together through college. Bill was an upstanding individual with strong moral and Christian values and could always be trusted to be there as a friend when needed. I will miss him very much but know that he has gone to a far better place and is rejoicing in heaven right now.

Brian, Sherry and family. I am so sorry to learn of Bill’s passing. He and Cheryl were almost like family, as Ken worked at Collins Electic longer than Bill was the owner. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
