Boni R. Anderson, 84, husband of Colleen Anderson, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 9, 2022.
Born in Boise, Idaho, he was the only son of the late Robert and Gertrude Nelson Anderson.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Sonja McGatha and husband Shawn; son, Alex Anderson; step-daughter, Kristine Bodine; step-son, Ryan Mitchell and wife Melinda; and six grandchildren, Ryan McGatha, Blake Bodine, Nicholas Bodine, Zachary Mitchell, Olivia Mitchell, and Madilyn Mitchell.
Boni and his parents moved to California in the early 1940’s. He loved his home state of California where he lived for nearly eighty years. He lived in the Bay Area, Southern and Central California. He spent the last five years in South Carolina to be near family.
Boni proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his time in the Army, he trained to become a licensed welder and enjoyed a long and successful career in the construction industry. He was a skilled Ironworker and Operating Engineer. He was a proud member of the Ironworkers Union #416 and Local 12 of the Operating Engineers Union. During his career, Boni worked on constructing many bridges and buildings throughout California. The Getty Museum and The Century Plaza Towers were a few of the construction projects he worked on. He worked for Golden State Steel and Soule Steel. A career in the construction industry required lots of travel and early mornings. His favorite breakfast spot before work was Dolly-O Donuts where he enjoyed companionship with the regulars and anything chocolate.
Throughout his life, Boni enjoyed many activities. In his earlier years, he spent time camping, fishing, and boating with family, friends and neighbors. He could always be found pulling a skier behind his boat and trying to whip them off the rope. He loved to spend time in the garage building and fixing things and working on projects. Boni was a licensed Ham radio operator and went by the call signs “KF6MW”. He made many friends on the radio and throughout his local Ham community. Boni had a lifelong passion for San Francisco 49er’s football and watching his favored NASCAR driver, Mark Martin.
Boni was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
