Bonnie Sams Smith, 82, of Greenville, passed away at home Saturday, March 12, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late William and Johnnie Sams.
Bonnie was a member of Berea First Baptist Church and a past employee of St. Francis Hospital (Bon Secours). She was a graduate of Parker High School, Class of 1957 and the “Breakfast Club.” Bonnie enjoyed cooking, visiting the beach, watching Dr. Phil on television and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren who lovingly called her “Mama.”
She is survived by her two daughters, Melinda Smith Brown and Melissa Smith Williams; two grandchildren,Rebecca Williams and Paul Mason Brown; sisters, Sarah Sams Wells and Faye Sams Jordan (Mike); numerous nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews; long time friend and caregiver, Renee Gosnell, and her daughter, Kathryn Gosnell.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Roy Smith; sister, Beth Sams Turner; and niece, Shannon Turner.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with a funeral service to follow at 12 o’clock in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West.
