Brenda Lollis Hardy, 73, of Greenville, SC, devoted wife of 48 years to the late Daniel Alexander Hardy, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, after a long, spirited, and courageous fight with renal cell carcinoma.
Born in Greenville on March 8, 1950, to the late Rufus Taylor Lollis and Lilly Lollis Caviness, Brenda was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmommy, sister and friend. She was a true believer in Jesus Christ and derived much peace and joy from her study of the scripture and from sharing her faith with Christian and non-Christian alike, often sending Bibles and witnessing to non-believers, even in foreign countries.
Brenda never met a stranger. She was known for her honesty, thoughtfulness, generosity, amazing sense of humor, her knack for giving the perfect card or gift, and her love for “getting the scoop.” She would have made an amazing private detective!
While Brenda was open with her generosity to friends and family, she quietly ministered to and became a lifeline for several people living on the streets of her community. Her love and encouragement had a profoundly positive impact on people’s lives.
She attended both Greenville High School and Berea High School and was a long-time member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church.
Brenda is survived by her son Chad Hardy (Jennifer), daughters Septima and Dara Hardy, a precious granddaughter, Chamberlin, her sister Sandy Reynolds and many friends and extended family members who loved her and will miss her every day.
In addition to her late parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers Rick and Charlie Lollis.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, 6710 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. Interment at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the W. Larry Gluck, MD Endowed Chair for Translational & Molecular Oncology Research at Prisma Health – Upstate, Office of Philanthropy, Attn: Angela Freeman, 300 East McBee Avenue, Suite 201, Greenville, SC 29601 or to Hampton Park Christian School, 875 State Park Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
