Burns Stephen Cale, 36, husband of Lesli Cale, suddenly passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of Stephen and Connie Payne Cale.

Burns enjoyed a career as a land surveyor, currently working for H&M Surveying. It was when he was working in Oklahoma as a surveyor with Freeland Associates that he met the love of his life, Lesli, in 2013. Always one to make others laugh, Burns was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. An outdoorsman, Burns loved camping, fishing, and was a Carolina Gamecock fan to the core.

In addition to his parents and wife, left to cherish his memory are his two children, Emma Grace and Sutton Cale; and his paternal grandmother, Bobbie Lazar.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Travis Cale; and his grandparents, Sara Payne, and Burns E. Cale.

Family and friends will gather at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast Chapel for Celebration of Burns’ life with visitation to follow.

Family and friends who are unable to attend the service can view the Live Stream by clicking on the “Watch Livestream” button located on the main obituary page.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital, Greenville, SC.

I encountered this exceptional human being, of all places, an online fishing game. During the last few years, I've grown to enjoy his "comments" & grew to share many memories. Most of all, I will miss his fun loving, easy going & yes, sometimes sarcastic words. He will be dearly missed.....I will pray for his young, beautiful family.

My family and I are so terribly saddened by your heartbreaking loss. Our heartfelt loving thoughts are with you and your families during this very difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to the Cale family and friends on this unimaginable loss. I remember my daughter MK Ros Allen (Livingston) playing in the back yard with Travis and Burns. We met Burns when he visited our home on Isle of Palms. His smile said everything. He later worked with my son Will in his landscape business. Will had nothing but kind words to say about Burns. We were shocked to learn of your loss. Prayers to you the family and friends.

This is so hard to believe, there simply are no words. We are so very sorry. Burns was a fine young man, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Burns and I were always close. I remember one year when i went up to visit and we had a handstand competition in the front yard. He beat me every time. I beat him and everything else though. He will forever be my handstand competitor.
