Cameron “Coop” Thomas Jones

Bob, Vicki, and McKenna, Our family left Greenville to move to Crozet, Va in 2008. I just realized a couple days ago that Cameron had passed away. I have fond memories of Cameron and McKenna being on the Dove Tree swim team with Cici and Camp. I know Cici was friends with McKenna and had been to your house several times. I just wanted to let you know that we were so sorry to hear about Cameron passing away. Our thoughts and prayers will continue for your entire family. Cameron is with God now. Rest in peace, Cameron. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My sweet friends my heart breaks with you. I’m in complete shock and disbelief and wish i had the right words to truly express how I feel and how much Cam meant to all of us. I know you guys share and remember similar stories, remember all the field trips, football games, dances, and visits in your office, Mr. Jones for being too rowdy and talking too much. “Cam” was my very first friend at Southside and remained a constant in my life. We met in preschool in Mrs. Conns class and he was always in the same class as I was at SCS all the way through upper school. He was my fierce protector from the bullies and truly was the only boy I felt the safest and most comfortable with taking me to the dance! He was my only friend from high school that attended my wedding. He called me and checked on me through every major brain and spine surgery after I got sick and always talked about wanting to help teach my son, Axel who is 3 and a half how to play football! I will never forget the impact he made in my life. There is that core group at SCS that grew up with Cam, and we will never be the same. I wish you knew just how special he was to me, but I already know you know this about him. May God wrap his loving arms around you. We have so many pictures growing up together, but here we were at the homecoming dance. We were 16 here. Love always, Lara

Coach Cam was a phenomenal coach and an even better person, I remember all the long days me and him would spend together after practice for punishment because I would get lazy. I always appreciate how he would do the workout with me and encourage me throughout. He gave me lots of advice as a young kid that I will never forgot. Fly High Coach Cam
