Carol Smith Alderman, loving and devoted wife of 44 years to Myron Alderman, unexpectedly died at her home on Wednesday, October 26th.
She was born and raised in Elizabethan, TN before moving and attending Greenville High for her senior year. Her parents, Bruce and Josephine Smith purchased and ran a service station and dry cleaners on Augusta Road for years.
She held law enforcement positions in the Mauldin Police Department, Greenville County Detention Center, and was a Criminal Investigator with the Greenville Solicitors Office for the last 15 of her 25 years of service. Upon retirement she joined the Greenville Crimestoppers Board where she served until her untimely death.
She was a faithful member of Tapestry church and loved being involved in the Samaritans Purse Operation Christmas Child program sponsored by the church.
In addition to her husband, Mary Beth Edwards, her youngest child, still lives in the Greenville area. She loved her grandchildren Trip Andrews (Courtney) and Joe Gillespie (Tika), and her great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, her brothers Jack and Bud, her sister Peg, and three of her oldest children, Jackie Lee Edwards, Susan Gillespie, and Sandy Jenkins (Doug) predeceased her.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The Graveside Service will be Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor David Case.
