Carolyn Hammond Harvell, 84, devoted wife of Franklin “Frank” D. Harvell, went to be with her Lord and Savior, at home surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, August 28, 2023.
Born in Lancaster, SC, she was the ninth child born to the late Luther and Mardie Smith Hammond.
Carolyn was a faithful member of Airport Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She loved singing and was a member of her family’s quartet at one time. After a career with both Duke Power and JP Stevens, she retired as an executive secretary.
Carolyn loved to travel, which included going on cruises to the South Pacific and Europe. She was known to be wonderful, good hearted, and sassy.
Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her wonderful husband of 70 years, Frank; their loving son, Marty Harvell and wife, Janet; two precious grandchildren, Dustin Patrick Harvell and Savannah Jane Harvell Cason; three precious great-grandchildren, Mya and Mikayla Cason, and Morgan Harvell; two loving sisters, Elaine Cook, and Loree Murray and husband, R.C.
In addition to her parents, she was reunited in Heaven with her son, Guerry Lynn Harvell.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 01, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown. The funeral will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Airport Baptist Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
