Catherine ?Katie? Ann McNamara, 49, of Holly Woods Condo, 2-B, died August 5, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Catherine Fewell McNamara and the late James Patrick McNamara, MD. She was an Executive Assistant with Michelin North America and was of the Catholic faith. Katie was a competitive swimmer in the master?s swimming program of the upstate and was an avid triathlete. She loved being with her nieces and nephew and lived life to the fullest. Surviving in addition to her mother, are a sister, Sister Ray Maria McNamara, RSM of Berkeley, CA; three brothers, William F. McNamara of Simpsonville, James P. ?Pat? McNamara, Jr. and Michael J. McNamara of Greenville; five nieces, one nephew, and a good friend, Charlie Williams of Greenville. Memorials may be made to Pendleton Place, P.O. Box 10323, Greenville, SC 29603 or the National Alzheimer?s Association specifically marked for research 919 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1100, Chicago, IL 66011. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with visitation to follow, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The family is at 105 Walden Way, Taylors.

I have worked with Katie at Michelin since 1985. She was more than a co-worker, but an extremely special close friend. I even competed in a triathlon with her in the early 90's I was the runner, but she was the star as a swimmer, coming out of the water
