Catherine Marie Zimmer peacefully passed away during the early hours of Tuesday, July 19, 2022. While surrounded by her children, she ended her 68-yearlong earth journey as a loving ‘mamas’, respected nurse, and inspiring artist.
Born in Bayonne, NJ, she was the second of five children born of the late John and Phyllis Henderson Krzywicki.
Cathy graduated from Carteret High School and furthered her education in nursing becoming a Registered Nurse. She specialized in labor and delivery providing the necessary calm and support to countless women as they welcomed their miracles.
Cathy was a true child of the 60s who often followed her artistic yearnings. Growing up to the melodies of James Taylor and Joni Mitchell, this Jersey girl was inspired to sing and learned to play the guitar. In addition to her musical talents, Cathy was a talented painter who excelled at watercolors.
She had a great sense of humor and always had an entertaining story or joke to share. She loved helping people and making a positive difference where she could. Although life brought Cathy many ups and downs, her happiest moments were the arrivals of her seven precious grandchildren.
Cathy’s memory is forever cherished in the hearts of her three children, Becky Lilla (Alex), Ben Zimmer (Marlene), Alison Zimmer ; seven grandchildren, Max, Ruthie, Luca, Seth, Ethan, Violet, and Asher. She also leaves behind four siblings, John Krzywicki, Mary DeVincentz, Dave Krzywicki, Ed Krzywicki and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Branstad.
There will a Celebration of Life on September 10, 2022 in Greenville, SC and in lieu of flowers or donations, Cathy’s family encourages everyone to show love to someone in need.

Behind, from where we came
And go round and round and round, in the circle game”
