Charles Andrew “Drew” DuPre, 34, of Greenville, SC, formerly of Texas, left his earthly body to be united with his Heavenly Father on Friday, November 5, 2021.
Born in Baton Rouge, LA, he was the son of the Charles Henry DuPre, Jr. and Constance “Connie” Ness DuPre.
Drew, also known as “no shoes Drew”, was a beacon of love and kindness. His hugs were big and warm. His laughter was infectious. He never met a stranger, and if he did, they weren’t strangers for long. He saw the good in everyone, loved fiercely, and gave selflessly. From the very beginning of his life, Drew’s personality matched his hair and smile – big and bright. He loved his family and friends, hockey, tattoos, dogs, and fast cars. But he was happiest when he was Chef – cooking and creating. To him, food was love and he thrived sharing that love. Drew was the most amazing son, big little brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend.
Romans 5:3-5 was one of his favorite scripture readings. “Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
Drew’s love and kindness will continue on in the hearts of his parents, Connie and Henry; his little big sister, Cara; maternal grandparents, John David and Morrise Brumbaugh Ness; aunts and uncles, Kim Ness, Ana Maria and John R. Ness, Patsy and John DuPre, and Dr. Helen Just; numerous loving cousins; friends, Dani and Jordan Nahon, Big John Chianis, and Ruthie Smith.
He was preceded in death by grandmother, Annie Ruth Burnett DuPre; grandfather, Charles Henry DuPre; uncle, Jim DuPre; and his beloved pup, Simba.
A funeral service to celebrate Drew’s life will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal, Greenville, SC. Committal to follow in St. Luke’s Chapel Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory of Drew to Fisher House Foundation, www.fisherhouse.org. And always, spread love and joy as Drew did!
