Charles Edward McKinney, Sr

Charles Edward McKinney, Sr., 49, of 12795 Hwy. 101 South, Gray Court died May 14, 2004 at Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Earl Haskell and Ella Mae Raines McKinney. Mr. McKinney was a salesman and former co-owner and operator of McKinney Brothers for over 20 years. He was a member of Westwood Church of God, now known as Word of Life Ministries. His hobbies included his love of fishing, hunting and the outdoors. Some of the best times with his family were playing pool, and to his son he was the best pool player he had ever seen. Mr. McKinney was a loving husband and wonderful and loving father and Papa. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Rose Murray McKinney, of the home; one daughter, Sandy Dawn McKinney Thomas and husband Steven of Easley; two sons, Charles Edward McKinney, Jr. of Simpsonville and Jeremy Wayne Mahaffey and wife Reka of Gray Court; one grandchild, McKenzie Steven Thomas; four sisters, Lisa Doster and husband E.J. of Macon, GA, Myrte Nell Byars and husband Jimmy of Mauldin, Betty Jean James of Gray Court, and Shirley Mae West and husband Kenny of Fountain Inn; three brothers, Earl McKinney, Jr. and wife Michiko of Greenville, NC, Harry Wayne McKinney and wife Cora Lee of Gray Court and Ronnie E. McKinney and wife Teresa of Gray Court. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:30 until 5:30 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 pm at Westwood Church of God, now known as Word of Life Ministries, on West Georgia Rd., Simpsonville. Interment to follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
