C. Ron Logan, 81, devoted husband of 55 years to Frances Logan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 6, 2023. Ron’s memory will forever be cherished in the heart of his loving wife and everyone who knew him. His easygoing manner made him a friend to all.
Born in Gorman, TX and growing up in Denison where his parents had a music store, he was a son of the late Charles and Patti Ruth King Logan. He was preceded in death by his brother, John David Logan.
Ron was a true Texan. He was a graduate of Texas Tech and was a member of The Alpine Trio while there. Afterwards, he received his MBA from the University of Texas, Houston. A member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, he continued to go to Texas every spring for a reunion with his Brothers on the Brazos in Mineral Wells.
Ron started his career with Dow Badische Company and then joined Michelin in Greenville, South Carolina in the early 70’s. While with Michelin he worked in France, Mexico, and South Africa before retiring.
He loved to travel with family and friends, especially to Europe, and spent over 20 years going to Mexico for month long visits.
Ron was a musician at heart and loved to write folk music with amusing lyrics. He played the banjo, guitar, and mandolin and was a member of the 23 Strings and The Foundation and The FCC Church Trio in Greenville.
He was also a committed runner and participated in 50 consecutive 10K Peachtree Road Races held on the 4th of July in Atlanta. He also ran several others, including the New York, Dublin, and Kiawah Marathons.
Ron loved giving back to the community and volunteered at the Greenville Literacy Association and was formerly on the Board of the Hispanic Alliance. He was a member of Upstate International where he studied several languages. In addition, he founded the Community Garden of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, and two goddaughters, Diana Salinas Aguado of SMA, Mexico and Sandrine Couriol Authier of Clermont-Ferrand, France.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, [DOC], Greenville, S.C. The memorial service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held in the sanctuary at 12 noon, officiated by Reverend Johanna Camp.
