C. Ron Logan, 81, devoted husband of 55 years to Frances Logan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 6, 2023. Ron’s memory will forever be cherished in the heart of his loving wife and everyone who knew him. His easygoing manner made him a friend to all.

Born in Gorman, TX and growing up in Denison where his parents had a music store, he was a son of the late Charles and Patti Ruth King Logan. He was preceded in death by his brother, John David Logan.

Ron was a true Texan. He was a graduate of Texas Tech and was a member of The Alpine Trio while there. Afterwards, he received his MBA from the University of Texas, Houston. A member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, he continued to go to Texas every spring for a reunion with his Brothers on the Brazos in Mineral Wells.

Ron started his career with Dow Badische Company and then joined Michelin in Greenville, South Carolina in the early 70’s. While with Michelin he worked in France, Mexico, and South Africa before retiring.

He loved to travel with family and friends, especially to Europe, and spent over 20 years going to Mexico for month long visits.

Ron was a musician at heart and loved to write folk music with amusing lyrics. He played the banjo, guitar, and mandolin and was a member of the 23 Strings and The Foundation and The FCC Church Trio in Greenville.

He was also a committed runner and participated in 50 consecutive 10K Peachtree Road Races held on the 4th of July in Atlanta. He also ran several others, including the New York, Dublin, and Kiawah Marathons.

Ron loved giving back to the community and volunteered at the Greenville Literacy Association and was formerly on the Board of the Hispanic Alliance. He was a member of Upstate International where he studied several languages. In addition, he founded the Community Garden of the First Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, and two goddaughters, Diana Salinas Aguado of SMA, Mexico and Sandrine Couriol Authier of Clermont-Ferrand, France.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, [DOC], Greenville, S.C. The memorial service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held in the sanctuary at 12 noon, officiated by Reverend Johanna Camp.

I have known Ron since the Denison High School Band days back in the late 1950's, later at Texas Tech, and later when Ron & Frances lived in Houston. I remember the evening when we had the first moon landing and I was with them that night to watch the event. I also remember on that night when their cat hid one of my socks as I was napping. My wife and I visited them in SC, and once we went to the Okefenokee swamp.

I may have to continue our traditional, mostly monthly visit to a new restaurant that serves craft beers. Herse's to you, Ron. Frances, I'm so sorry for your loss.

Ron was absolutely the best human being I have ever been blessed to know. We were part of the quartet 23 Strings & The Foundation in Greenville, from 2010 til 2014. We all just loved to play together, especially Ron, who always was having the most fun just wailing on his banjo, mandolin, guitar, and any other instruments he would just pick up. I will miss him so much on this earthly plane, not only as our band leader but also as a dear friend. Listen, as Ron will pop in with a song you recognize from heaven, all the time his arms wrapped around his beloved Frances. Much love and condolences to all who loved him too.

I knew Ron only for a short time at Upstate International in a French class. We worked often in pairs and more than once Ron and I worked together. He was the kindest, nicest, patient and modest man. I loved when he talked about his pies, his trips. Sometimes we would throw a couples of words in Spanish when practicing French and we had a laugh. He was so knowledgeable. May you rest in peace amigo Ron.

I just saw the pictures of Ron memory and it remained me such a good time we had togerth , Ron was for me the brother i never had and Frances is for me ,like a sister. I lost a member of my family .

Thinking of Ron, what comes directly to our heart is an educated, cultured, well-travelled, kind and generous Texan friend and the amazing couple they made all those years with Frances. An example for us. Despite living in different countries, moving from countries, we always managed to keep in touch and meet along the way. Ultimately, each year, we were looking forward to the cherished invitation to spend a day in San Miguel de Allende and reconnect, share the latest news while celebrating the mix of American and Mexican culture. My husband John and I met Ron at the Logan's Christmas Open House several years ago. He was very friendly toward us and easy to talk to. We enjoyed discussing travelling as that was a common interest. Our hearts go out to Frances (a Crescent Garden Club friend) upon losing the love of her life.

My condolences to Frances and Ron's entire family. I shared three years with Ron on the Board of the Hispanic Alliance. He'll be missed greatly in the Greenville Hispanic community, and by all of us who had the privilege to know him. I'll miss his charming personality and enthusiastic nature, and our coffee get togethers at Starbucks.

Great memories of our times together! Ron and Frances were the perfect couple..in love, enjoying life to the fullest, and always remembering to include family and friends in their adventures and celebrations.
