Debbie we are so sorry to hear of Charles’s passing. We always enjoyed him stopping by on his scooter and talking with us. He’d always said “Well I better go Deb will be out looking for me” and that was so true. You always took care and loved him and I know you will miss him greatly. Remember we’re near if you need us or just want to stop by and talk. He was a wonderful man always smiling and willing to take time for friends. Love you and praying for you and the family.??. George March left a message on August 31, 2023:
As stated in his obituary, Charles was an avid golfer. He had been away from golf a good while when we became friends. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even know that he was a golfer. I tried to get him to play with my friends and me, but I could never get him interested. After much coaxing and begging, he finally agreed to play with us while he and I along with our families were on vacation together at the beach. He brought his clubs and said that he needed to practice before he played. He took a sand wedge and some golf balls and walked out on the beach to practice. I thought that he had lost his mind to practice in sand on the beach. As a matter of fact, I very discreetly laughed at him. I didn’t go with him, but I watched from the house with amazement to see this guy hit and control the ball the way he did in the sand, no less. I told my friends that we were in for treat to play golf with this man. I very quickly found out that Charles Franks was a very good golfer, and very serious about his game. I could never beat him, but he was very gracious and never boastful. He was a fine man, and I will miss him greatly. I am sure that he is in Heaven with perfectly good health, and just maybe, if there is a golf course in Heaven, he will be there playing.
