She was born in Socastee, SC. She graduated Taylors High where she fell for the love of her life, Harris, and they began their family together. She was the daughter of the late John Donald and Rena Bell Dubose Elkes.
Irene was a joy to her community as a member of Lee Road Baptist Church for over 55 years, serving in different ministries. She was a part of the Gleaners Sunday School class. She was also a part of the doll ministry at Taylors First Baptist where she also enjoyed working out with her High School friends at the Taylors Rec Center. She loved the beach, mountains and the family’s lake homes.
She supported her grandchildren and enjoyed attending their various sporting events and activities.
She was such a blessing to anyone who knew her. She lived a Godly example for her family and friends. She enjoyed the simple things in life, but spending time with her family is a huge part of her legacy and brought her the biggest joy.
