Did you know that there is a landmark in Antarctica, called Bessinger Nunatak? It's located at 85"05'S, 64"411W. Dr. B was the USN officer in charge of South Pole Station in the winter of 1963. This was just one of the things I learned about Dr. B during my time at the University of Georgia. We connected in the early days of the internet because of a common interest in Carl Jung. I had started a club and he was our first speaker. He drove down to Athens and read some of the poetry he was working on and a group of us talked about psychology and poetry for the afternoon. You can never get enough of those days in life. I will miss him.

Dear Don and Michael, I was a good friend of your father starting in 1999 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville. He and I wrote a paper together that was published in the SC Medical Journal in 2003. We remained in contact and I would come down there to see he and Michael once a quarter where I would buy a large pizza and we would have pizza and beer and talk about things Noetic, my training in Viktor Frankl's Logotherapy and my transition from ministry into counseling. Ive read a few of his books and they are very deep. He will be missed though he is now connected to the collective consciousness he wrote and theorized about.

My sympathy is extended to your family at the loss of your dad, a very brilliant, kind, and self-effacing surgeon. I worked for him as a RN during the time of your mom’s death and “house sat” while the family was away for her service. His technical skills were par excellence and the visual result of his breast surgery was unsurpassed. I once asked if he’d considered doing augmentations and his response was that he wanted to use his gift to save lives and not for cosmetic enhancement. I retired to live aboard our trawler and cruise full time. He said his dream had always been to do the same aboard a Nordic Tug. I’m sorry that he never got to do that. Know that my thoughts are with you during this most difficult time.
