The Funeral Service for Colonel James Bransford Brandon, U.S. Army (Ret.), 82, will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC, with full military honors.

Colonel Brandon died Sunday, September 4, 2022. Born January 28,1940, in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Earl Clay Brandon and Kathryn Louise White Geralds, and stepson of the late Ruby Morgan Brandon.

Colonel Brandon retired from the U.S. Army in 1994, after a 40-year career that included enlisted service in the U.S. Navy and enlisted and commissioned service in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course, Armor Officer Basic Course and Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advance Courses, US Army Command and General Staff College and the US Army War College. His decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit and four Awards of the Meritorious Service Medal.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pamela Miller Brandon; sons, Joel S. Brandon and wife, Stacy, of Greenville, SC, and Lt. Col. Timothy S. Brandon, USAF (Ret.), and wife, Kimberly, of Yorktown, VA; grandchildren, Julia Blaine Brandon, Dylan Nathaniel Brandon and wife, Suzanne, Kathryn Ann Brandon, and Joshua Stephens Brandon; brothers, George E. Brandon and wife, Donna, of Lexington, SC, Randall M. Brandon and wife, Johnetta, of Humble, TX, and Richard A. Brandon and wife, Amy, of Oreana, IL; sisters, Julia Karen Smith of Tompkinsville, KY, Sue Ann Grider of Oakley, IL, and Sandra Gale Barnes and husband, Greg, of Decatur, IL; sister-in-law, Janice Brandon of Goshen, IN; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Colonel Brandon was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert M. Brandon and Joseph C. Brandon, and brother-in-law, Richard T. Miller.
