Coy Dale Whitmire, 84, devoted husband of 41 years to Marlene Loftis Whitmire, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the only child of the late L.A. and Wilma Ellison Whitmire.
Coy retired from Steel Heddle as an inspector after 37 years of service.
Coy and Marlene were introduced by one of his coworkers; after courting Marlene for seven months, they married in November 1981 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, where they attended church.
His memory will continue on in the hearts of his loving wife, Marlene, as well as his wonderful children, Ricky Whitmire (Vivian), Kristi Carroll, step-son, Donald Arms (Maria); seven adoring grandchildren, Nathan Bland (Hope), Paxton Whitmire, Gina Carroll, Lori Ramsey (James), Taylor Carroll (Robert), and step grandchildren, Marisa Southard (Phil Oliver), Megan Arms (Russ Schneider); seven precious great grandchildren, Tyler and Abijah Bland, Jordan and Jacob Hilliard, Breanne Carroll, Zurik McCoy, and Jhade Foster.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
