I am at a loss for words. Danny was a great man and and an even greater boss. I’ll never forget those nights with Danny and fellow friends sitting at that booth and listening to their stories of Greece or rambling on about the current news of that day. I often stopped by Olympian to see how him and his family were doing and seeing a few familiar faces. He will truly be missed and I give my sincere condolences to his family.

I am at a loss for words. I honestly can’t believe that Danny is not here anymore. He was one of my closest friends for so many years. There are so many memories of him that will stay with me forever. We had some great times and sometimes that were not so great but never a time that I regret. I will never forget you and what your friendship meant to me. I never said this to you personally but I think you knew. I loved you man…. May you rest in heavenly peace. I will never forget you!

Danny started off in my life as my boss. He had a hard outer shell. Sometimes it felt like there couldn't possibly be a soft underbelly to the man with the biggest personality who strived for perfection at every turn. A couple years passed, and I came to know a different Danny. The one that just wanted someone to talk to. Someone to listen to his stories and share in his enthusiasm at all the wonders of the world that we just didn't have our eyes open to quite like he had. He had this boyish twinkle in his eye and I think that's because there was a part of Danny that never grew up. That childlike wonder that showed up on days when the restaurant was a little slower and he would join in on the goofy antics of our little Olympian crew. Sometimes he needed a reminder that life was here for us to enjoy - fleeting but filled with wonder orchestrated just for us. Danny ended up becoming like a father to me. I don't think he even really knew how tall the pedestal was that I had him on. We argued like family, we joked like family, and now I miss him like family. I wish I could have said more. Stopped in town a few more times and sat down for a story or just to listen to Danny ramble, vent, anything, everything. In the end it's what we always wish for - more moments, more words, more memories, more time. I've played back memory after memory and I always go back to him in his usual spot. Sitting at the booth under the TV at Olympian, arms crossed, staring up at the news...a soccer game...or the cooking channel I always ended up switching to. Right there in the heart of Olympian. Our Danny.

My deepest sympathies and sorrow to the Giakomelos family for your loss. I’ve known Danny since the late 1970’s playing soccer on Sundays at Wellington Green. We came back from Greece in 1992 on Olympic Airways. Great person and very heartfelt. He will be missed, may his memory be eternal.

My heartfelt condolences to Danny's family. I am very saddened by Danny's sudden passing. I am about the same age as Danny and had enjoyed playing soccer with him on many occasions back in the good ole days of the 80s. I am also conveying condolences from my first cousin, John Yannopoulos and his wife Alexandra, that are currently visiting Greece.
