David Franklin Owens

David Franklin Owens of Winter Haven, FL, passed away at 89 years old on November 9, 2023.

He was born in Walhalla, SC, to the late Rev. Ocie and Mollie Owens and was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and his in-laws, Russell and Billie Bayne. He treasured his family and is survived by his faithful wife JoAnn having recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, sister Wilma Owings, daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Lloyd McGrady, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Chesna Owens, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His extended family was also very precious to him including many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

David had a full 37-year career with Sears, transferring throughout the southeast and retiring as store manager in Lakeland, FL.

As a member of First Baptist Church Winter Haven since 1975, he loved people and being an active part of his church and community organizations. He also enjoyed playing golf and following baseball and football.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown with the graveside service to follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens at 3:00 p.m.
