David Henry Slieff, 76, husband of Beverly Slieff, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Born in Goodrich, MI, he was the son of the late Berton and Florence Slieff.

David was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Simpsonville. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He loved his family, grand and great-grandchildren, his grandpup, sports (Go Blue!), teasing people, eating sweets, and, most of all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He leaves behind his wife, Beverly (Bev), whom he cherished for 53 years of marriage; three children, Pearline Boyce, David E. Slieff, and Timothy Slieff (Michelle); six grandchildren, Kristine, Wyatt, Katelyn, Jason, Emily, Sarah; three great-grandchildren, Riley, Sara, and Scarlet; and his sister, Vivian Phalen.

He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers: Anita Huff, Berton Slieff, Roberta Seeley, Kay Massey, Judy Kimball, and Roy Slieff.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Masks are required in all Thomas McAfee Funeral Home locations and attendees are strongly encouraged to follow CDC guidelines on social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Mission, PO Box 430, Villa Rica, GA 30180.

Dear Beverly, Pearline, David,Tim & family, So very sorry to get this news of Dave. We all love him very much and have the fondest of memories and we will cherish each and every one of them. All our love and prayers to you all, coming from your Michigan family. Dave and Veronica Crespo, Amber Crespo Starnes Cindy Harter Williams, Matthew, Blake Williams, Geri, Angie, Cliff, Julie Neville.

I have good and funny stories to remember about my brother-in law. He usually called me "Careful Carol". He was a hard worker-no matter where lived. We are all from Michigan and loved University of Michigan. Dave, you are in a good place now. God loves you!

Dave and Bev were the first people I really got to know when I started coming to Calvary. Dave always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell! He would always “pick” on me in his humorous way and sometimes poke me with his cane! Jesse and I both always enjoyed talking with him!! We will miss that, but what a joy to think he is in heaven today with his Savior!! (I just hope he’s behaving ?)

David was a special man of God. When our Mother was very ill, in the hospital, I went to see her, after work. There was Dave, holding our Mothers’ hand. They were praying & Dave looked up & said “oh, Vivian, I’m glad you are here, Mother just accepted Jesus as her Lord & Savior, well we are just making sure” I told Dave, he was the answer to my prayers, making sure that our Mother was saved. We will rejoice in heaven! Thanks David!!

Dear Bev and family.....Thinking of you and praying too in this great loss. My heart aches with you all. The time we all went to church together at Riverdale Baptist church will always be remembered with such fondness. I'm so thankful that God is with you during this time. We have been blessed to know Dave. He liked to joke around and make everyone laugh. He really liked sweets such as fruit salad and banana pudding. We will miss you now and looking forward to seeing you in Heaven. Love you SS buddy. Charles and Paula Sloan

David was a super nice guy! I always will remember him calling me "Preacher". I thought, I'm no preacher. But in reflection, we as Christians are all called to be a preacher. Romans 10:14 says "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a PREACHER".

So sorry to hear about Uncle David. He was a great man and will always be remembered fondly. I like to think he has already started a puzzle with his sisters in heaven! May we all find joy in the comfort of knowing he is with God and our loved ones that have passed before him.

I have fond memories of Uncle Dave. He was always a kind and gentle man. And yes, a bit of a prankster! I am so sorry him and his loved ones had to go through this difficult journey. I am sure God was waiting for him with open arms. God bless all of you. Love you all. Kathy Theiss
