I came to know David in 1984, arriving to the Woodside COG as an intern. Later, as youth pastor, he would become a great leader (many stories someday to share). I admit to crying and being deeply saddened by Brother Swafford’s promotion to Heaven. My reasons are selfish in the sense I will TRULY miss him. He told me once that he needed to tell me something “just for me”. When he did, I knew he had an “imparted” wisdom from the Lord from living a life of obedience. As I knew him better, it became blatantly obvious he was one of God’s “chosen”. I am so very thankful for my time spent with him.

Jimmy, Lindsey, and I are so sorry for the loss of David. We have such fond memories of him, especially on the softball field. Lindsey loved having him as a coach, and Jimmy enjoyed assisting him in coaching for several years. He was certainly a man of God, and left a wonderful legacy.
