Dennis Brown was a man that I admired very much. When I was a kid, Dennis was the 1st base coach of our little league team. He was always there to brag on us when we would get a hit. I can still picture him standing there wearing those big sunglasses and an even bigger smile. When I would be up to bat he would always yell, “Nail it Matt, nail it”
Dennis taught me how to scout for deer and how to pattern a buck. He taught me how to respect the woods. Dennis taught me to catch bream at the boat landing at Sambos place.
I have to say that my most memorable moment with Dennis Brown was the time he asked me to fetch the adjustable wrench from the table in front of us. At the time I had no idea what an adjustable wrench even was. Being too embarrassed to admit it, I just picked out one of the 3 tools from the table. When I handed it to Dennis, he let out such a laugh, that i forgot all about being embarrassed and I joined him in laughter when he says, “Dang son that’s a TIRE TOOL!” He just laughed and laughed about that. He mentioned that tire tool for years after that😇
Dennis was a good man. He always made me feel welcome at his home and always kept me entertained while I was there. He had the best jokes! My sympathy to the whole family.
