Diane Mary Alton, 44, beloved wife of Scott Alton, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Corydon, IN, she was the daughter of David and Miriam Mulholland Hancock.

Diane was graduate of Presbyterian College where she was member of the women’s soccer team. For many years, she enjoyed a teaching career at Bell’s Crossing Elementary School. Diane loved her daughters and was very involved with their school and sports activities.

In addition to her parents, and husband of 22 years, left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Haley Alton and Mary Madison Alton; two brothers, Ryan Hancock and Sean Hancock (Debbie); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Annie Alton; and her sister-in-law, Jennifer Alton.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 01, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The Celebration of Diane’s life will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be private.

Scott, Tom and I just returned from the beach and heard of Diane’s passing. We were so very sorry to hear. She suffered so long. Please know we are praying for your family.

Diane, was my very first friend In Kindergarten. We laughed and played all the way up through middle school. We laughed constantly and I know she smiling and laughing from above.

I am so sad to learn of Diane’s passing. I taught her in second grade at Fountain Inn Elementary. She was a wonderful student. I have a picture of her as a second grader in my head. That beautiful smile is a part of my memory of her. I ran into her at a district workshop many years ago when she first started teaching. I recognized her right away. I was so excited to learn that she had become a teacher. Please accept my condolences. I will be in prayer for her beautiful daughters and her husband and the rest of her family.

My sincere condolences, my memories of Diane are all positive and bring warm smiles. Most often from soccer with her brother Sean. Times when Diane would join in playing soccer with us and trying "new moves" when they were both very young. I always was touched by her smile and her determination learning soccer. I am so sorry to learn of Diane's passing. She was a member of the soccer team for years that I was privileged to coach. Parents I will always remember her and her smile. May God bless each of you in this time of sorrow

I am so very sorry for your loss. I was friends with Diane in middle and high school. We both had braces and she got hers off first and she had the biggest most beautiful smile, it was blinding! I know she is loved and will be missed. Her family and girls are in our thoughts and prayers.
