Donald “Donnie” Ray Lewis, 76, beloved husband of 53 years to Ann Watson Lewis, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late James Harold and Ruth Wardlaw Lewis.

Donnie was a member of City View First Baptist Church. He was a 1964 graduate of Parker High School and attended Clemson University. Donnie was a kind and caring person that loved people; a “Gentle Giant”, and to know him was to love him. He enjoyed sports and cheering on his favorite teams, the Duke Blue Devils Basketball and the Clemson Tigers Football. Donnie was an avid tennis player and golfer before his health declined, but even after he still kept active at Patewood Post Acute as a “Checker Champion”. He loved his Lord and his family. His meek spirit and loving heart will carry on through each of his loved ones in memory and legacy.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by daughter Kari Beth Childress (Mark); sons, Blake Lewis and Dru Lewis (Kesina); grandchildren, Faxon and McCain Childress. Carter Lewis and Ella Lewis; sisters, Jean Lewis Cannon and Patricia Lewis-Burrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at City View First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to City View First Baptist Church, “Kitchen Renovation Fund”, 2300 West Blue Ridge Drive, Greenville SC, 29611, www.cityviewfirst.com.

I wish I had known Donnie as he sounds like he was such a caring person, but I will be praying for all of the family during this difficult time. You are loved.

Ann, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved husband. I remember fondly the love and care you had for him and the wonderful stories you’d share with us at work. A lifetime of love is how I will always remember your beautiful relationship with your husband. May the Lord comfort your heart and give you peace knowing your husband is rejoicing with our Lord and Savior in the Heavenly Jerusalem.

I wanted to express to you my sadness when I heard about Donnie. However in the same breath, like my own Daddy, I thought about how good it must have felt after being sick for so long, for him to wake up in such a glorious place having been made whole again. I didn't get to know him but I heard many wonderful stories about him. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all through this time.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

To Ann and Family -- I am so sorry to hear about Donnie's passing. You have my deepest sympathy and I will remember you in my prayers. There are many good memories for me of having classes with Donnie at Parker and how kind he was to me.
