Dorothy “Dot” Howell Cothran, 82, devoted wife of Harold Cothran, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Born in Greer, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elliot and Kathleen Todd Howell. On June 19, 1960, she married the love of her life at Washington Baptist Church, and she and her loving husband began their wonderful life together. Dot worked for over 30 years as a dental assistant. She later went on to work for many years as an interior designer. Later on in life she was known to bake the most wonderful cakes.
Dot was a faithful servant to her Lord and was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, and “Mimi”. She was the epitome of a true southern lady. Dot was a caring, tender, sweet spirit who from time to time was a little sassy.
Dot’s legacy will continue on with her loving husband of 62 years, Harold; her two wonderful daughters, Debbie Kelley (Blake) and Sandy Wilkie (Rusty); five precious grandchildren, Kagni Kelley, Kendall Burns (Jon), Tyler Wilkie, Brenna Horn (Seth), and Nathan Wilkie (Kathryn); three darling great-grandchildren, Paxton Kelley, Wilkes Horn, and one on the way, Kate Wilkie; and her twin brother, Dan Howell.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown followed by the funeral at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. A private burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
