Dr. Edd Stroud left his earthly home to be with Jesus on Monday evening, October 18, 2021.

He was born in Woodruff to his loving parents, Edwin W Stroud and Kathleen P Stroud.

After high school graduation, Edd attended his beloved Clemson University and then earned his DMD from the University of Louisville School of Dentisty. He was commissioned as a 1st Lietenant in the US Navy and served in Pensacola, FL for three years. In 1964, he and Nan were married and had 57 wonderful years together. In 1966, he opened his dental practice in the Berea area of Greenville and practiced there for 50+ years. His earthly passions were his family, his patients and Clemson football.

He is survived by his wife, Nan; his daughter, Kathy; and his son, Les and wife Pam.

He is predeceased by his mom and dad, his sister, and his son-in-law.

During his lengthy illness, he was lovingly cared for by Jodie Widener, Shannon Brooks, Teresa Green and Carol Traynham. The family would also like to extend their gratitude for the compassionate care by the staff at the Woodlands.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Friday, October 22, 2021 from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Berea First Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. A private committal will follow.

I just wanted to tell y’all that I was sitting outside thinking about daddy and growing up in Berea which made me think of your loving dad and his treasure box that I so loved. I don’t use my iPad a lot but I went to get it today , while still in my memories. I have no idea why, but when I opened my iPad Dr. Strouds picture was there. It gave me cold chills. Thank you for sharing him with us. He was so kind and I went last week and just looked around his office and it broke my heart that it’s not his office anymore. I hope this post leaves you all with a smile because as much as I hated going to see him, I always left getting to go through that treasure box. He had to pull a tooth of mine that was in the roof of my mouth and that was rough at the time, but I now get to tell that story and the exact smell his office STILL, and how I loved looking through all the highlights magazine he had for us while sitting his his waiting room. I bought a book that had many of those magazines together and every time I see it I think of him. I know he missed not only by his family but also everyone he met. He was so kind , Thank you again for sharing this wonderful man with us.

Edd was an encourager through building our Mary Kay business and in our family. Thank you Nan for sharing him!

My prayers and sympathy to the family I know Nan and Kathy from Berea First Baptist Church where we are all members. I knew the late Dr. Stroud as a dentist as he was our dentist when we were children, and later as a friend. He will be missed but we know he is now in the presence of the Lord. I am so sorry for your loss. I just love Dr. stroud. I still tell my children about his chest full of toys that he let us get after a visit with him. He was such a good man and he will be missed.

With heartfelt sympathy. Edd was our family dentist for over forty years. He provided excellent dental services and always was very interested in family members who were his patients. I recall an incident in which my now adult son, was in college and went to a dentist in NC and when they requested payment, he was at a loss because Sue was always available to bill us for any services provided. Edd was an exemplary health care provider and served as an excellent role model for others. He made the Berea community a better and healthier place to live. Sharron Voyles

I was shocked to hear this news Nan and am so very sorry for your loss. During the time I knew Edd, he always impressed me as the epitome of what a gentleman should be.

I remember your father as a kind and compassionate man. I enjoyed seeing him on his visits to see Dr. Gore. He would always thank me for taking care of his very dear friend.
