Edna Carolyn Norwood, 83, beloved wife of the late Johnny Norwood, went to be with her Lord, Sunday, May 1, 2022. She closed her eyes here and opened them looking into the eyes of God.
Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Dewey and Edna Gillespie Cooper.
Edna may have never signed on the dotted line, but she served her country along with her soldier husband for 20 years, with many sacrifices big and small along the way, with all the many houses she worked hard to make into homes. Edna always put God first in all things, never participating in idle gossip, only seeing good in everyone. She loved many things; including coloring, tending to her flowers, and to write songs to mention a few.
She is survived by son, Danny Norwood; daughters, Joan White and Debra Rainey (David); grandsons, Jonathan Davis (Jessica), Christopher Norwood, Joseph White (Flannery), Eric Rainey (Shannon), Corey Rainey (Rebecca); great grandchildren, Caden Davis, Cayden Rainey, Gavin Norwood, Tanner Rainey, and Mason Rainey; sisters, Joyce Lister (Steven), Linda Leonard (James), Ido Paige (Sam), and Rachel McClure (Dan), and brother, Rev. Larry Cooper (Patsy).
In addition to her loving husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Furman Cooper; and sisters, Bobbie Heaton, Beatrice Cooper, and Faye Hooper.
A visitation will be held Monday May 9, 2022 from 12:00 p.m until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The pallbearers will be: Christopher Norwood, Jonathan Davis, Joseph White, Eric Rainey, Corey Rainey, and Michael Freeman.
