Edna Virginia Mitchell Stamps

Edna Mitchell Stamps, 87, of 3 Dempsey Street, died August 3, 2004. Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late C.M. Jack and Tommie Jeanette Baskin Mitchell. Before her retirement, she was employed with the Greenville County School System. Mrs. Stamps was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church for over 52 years. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Clarence Atkins Stamps; three daughters, Jeanette Gambrell and her husband, Paul, of Goldsboro, NC, Anita Turner and her husband, Mack, of Iva, and Malinda Gentry of Greenville; 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her step-mother, Minnie Brown Mitchell, two brothers, James and Clint Mitchell, a son-in-law, Jim Gentry and an infant grandson. Memorials may be made to West Gantt First Baptist Church Elevator Fund, 1452 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29605. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday at West Gantt First Baptist Church, with visitation prior to the service, from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. Entombment will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
