Edwin Grey Wicker, 40, of Greenville, formerly of Spartanburg, passed away suddenly as a result of a cardiac event on Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
Grey is survived by his wife, Amanda Lackland Wicker and their precious children, Mac and Mae; his mother, Shirley Ann (Smith) Wicker; a brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Haley Wicker and their son Art; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dan and Ilene Lackland; brother-in-law, Thomas Lackland. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin McIntosh Wicker, Jr.
Grey and Amanda were blessed with two beautiful children and chose to lovingly raise them to know their Lord Jesus Christ. As an active member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, Grey served the congregation by facilitating the streaming technology for services and becoming an ordained member of the Diaconate in 2022.
A Spartanburg native, Grey earned his Eagle Scout in 1999 and graduated from Spartanburg High School in 2000. He was awarded a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a minor in music from Davidson College before receiving his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from The Charleston School of Law in 2007.
Professionally, Grey served as a law clerk to the Honorable Roger L. Couch in the Seventh Judicial Circuit for one year before going into practice with Mike Spears of Michael E. Spears, PA, in 2008. Grey joined Parham, Smith & Archenhold Attorneys at Law, Spartanburg Office, in 2017 where he continued his career protecting his clients’ interests while zealously representing them and counseling them through the difficult litigation process.
Grey was active in his community and served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg County and was a Founder and former Director of Public Relations for The Hub City Hog Fest, a charity BBQ competition in downtown Spartanburg.
During his leisure time, Grey enjoyed following his beloved Davidson College and University of South Carolina teams and spending time with his family and canine companion.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg. A memorial service celebrating Grey’s life will be held at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 703 E. Washington St., Greenville, SC 29601 on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following at the church until 6:30 p.m. Family and friends who are unable to attend the service at Fourth Presbyterian Church may view the livestream by visiting: https://www.youtube.com/FourthPresGreenville.
