As my older cousin, Betty Jane "Betts" was my idol. Sometimes she would walk from the bus in her nurses uniform to come to my mother's for dinner. The other kids on the block and I would run to meet her and she always had a smile for all of us even though she didn't know the others on the block. I always wanted to be like her - friendly, happy, and pleasant to know. Jo Ann

Growing up in Detroit down the block from the Rollers, Mrs. Roller (Betty Jane) was like a second mom to me! When visiting with my best friend, Kathy Roller, she would often fix us lunch. She was always smiling and reminded me of June Cleaver. An absolutely elegant lady in her demeanor and carriage. She must have been royalty in a former life! Will miss her.
