Elizabeth “Casey” Louise Currie

Elizabeth “Casey” Currie, 66, died Monday, August 8, 2022, after her battle with cancer.

Born in Summit, NJ, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Cressey O’Rourke.

Casey attended St. Theresa’s Little Flower Catholic Church in Summerville. She was a graduate of the inaugural nursing program at Princeton University. Her first position was with Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ. She then spent over 40 years caring for others, including 10 years over the SC State Department of Corrections infirmary department, followed by 22 years at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Charleston. Casey was a huge Clemson football fan. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and shopping.

She is survived by two sons, Shawn Currie and his wife, Laura, and Bryan Currie and his wife, Elizabeth; two grandchildren, Eliza and Owen Currie; three siblings, Karen Haggett, William O’Rourke, and Theresa Hillyer; and a number of nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service at a later date in Summerville.
