Ellis Vasile Barwick

Ellis Vasile Barwick, 30, of Greenville, SC, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 following a difficult battle against lupus.

To know Ellis was to love him. Even as a little fellow, Ellis’ impish grin and sparkling brown eyes captured many hearts. As he grew, so did his friendly manner and genuine concern for people, and his strong desire to help others served as a guide for his professional choices. Ellis worked as a certified nursing assistant and emergency medical technician in both Columbia and Greenville, SC before moving into the hospitality industry as Assistant General Manager at Woodspring Suites in Greenville.

Ellis had a sincere desire to aid in any way he could in any situation. His easy smile reflecting how glad he was to see someone and his kind-hearted spirit brought much joy to his family, friends, and coworkers.

Known as “Uncle Ellis” to some, he delighted in children, and always made time to have in depth conversations with them. He enjoyed all varieties of music, however, classical was the music of his soul. Riding in cars was a favorite past time for Ellis, and he savored time outdoors – especially at sunset. The colors of sunset were his favorites.

Surviving are his faithful and loving parents, Robert and Jan (McIntosh) Barwick; his sweet sister, Adriana Barwick; and his special aunt, Julie Branch, all of Wilson, NC; and the person who gave him a second chance at life, Marco Ramirez of Greenville, SC. Ellis is also survived by his beloved grandparents, William and Dorothea Barwick of Sumter, SC; as well as multiple uncles, aunts, cousins, dear friends, and honorary nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by dearly loved grandparents, Ben and Dorothy McIntosh.

A celebration of Ellis’ life will take place on Monday, May 22, 2023 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast with time to share stories and favorite memories immediately following.
