Emile Labrousse, 72, beloved husband of Eliane Labrousse, passed away on Saturday December 17, 2022.
Born in Perigueux, France, he was the son of the late Justin and Marie Foussette Labrousse.
Emile immigrated to the United States in 1973 as a twenty-three-year-old French chef formally trained in classical French cookery in the south of France with internships in Mt.-St Michelle, England, Germany, and Switzerland. He settled in Miami before taking on Restaurants in Monterrey and San Francisco, California. He then went to work running Magnolia Restaurant for Barbara Mandrell in Nashville, Tennessee. Finally, in 2001 he stepped in as Executive Chef for The Poinsett Club in Greenville, South Carolina from which he retired in 2016. He has received numerous professional accolades over the years and was a long-standing member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs.
Emile attended the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his sister, Viviane Peinaud; and special friends Charles Brewer, Kerry McGill, Bill and Gail Penland, Fred and Cathy Baus, Buck and Gail Denton, David and Jathryn Rhyne, Beverly and Stephen Henderson, Laine and Chip Robertson, Ruth Haggerty, Georgiann and Jerry Shore, and Wayne and Valerie Hollinger.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. in the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown Chapel followed by visitation until 5:00 p.m.
