Floyd Chester "Chet" Chapman, 80, of Greenville, husband of Gail Chapman, stepped into Glory Saturday January 30, 2021. Chet was born in 1940 to the late Floyd and Eva Chapman in Riverside, NJ.

He graduated from Wyoming High School, in Wyoming, NY, then obtained a BS from Philadelphia College of Bible, a Master of Divinity from Faith Seminary, Elkins Park, PA, an MS from Georgia State University and a Doctor of Divinity from Master's Graduate School of Divinity.  Chet served two pastorates prior to entering the Army where he served over 23 years as an active duty Chaplain obtaining the rank of Lt.Col.  Duty stations include Korea, Italy, Germany and various posts in the eastern United States.  He was assigned to 2 airborne units, one being the 10th Special Forces Group at Ft. Devens, MA.  Upon retiring, he taught for 5 years at Piedmont Baptist College in Winston-Salem, NC then became the Bible teacher and Chaplain of Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA.  He dearly loved and was a former member of the board of trustees of Grace Baptist Bible College in Winston-Salem.  He loved jumping out of perfectly good airplanes but loved his wife, kids and grandkiddos more.  He is with his Savior now and completely healed.  

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 55 years, include daughters, Bethany Ann (Rodney Case), Amy Lynn (Tobe Witmer); son Christopher Carl (Kimberly); 12 grandchildren and two grandsons-in-law; sister, Peggy (Bud Royce) of Batavia, NY; two brothers, Tom (Connie) of Chile, South America and Ted (Janet) of Rice, VA; plus nieces, nephews and cousins.  

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Keith Chapman.

The family will receive friends at Morningside Baptist Church, 1115 Pelham Rd., Greenville, SC on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. followed by a brief service in the chapel. Burial will follow at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson at 1:00 p.m.

Our sincere condolences from both Edna and me to Gail and the family. I pray for God's strength and comfort for Gail and the family. It was a pleasure meeting Chet and Gail at the church conference in Greenville South Carolina in October of 2017. And I am thankful for Chet and Gail's prayers for me with my illness of leukemia and his encouraging phone calls.
