Frances Elizabeth Johnson, 84, wife of Philip Johnson, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

Born in Greenville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Minnie Lee Williams Harrison.

For more than 40 years, Frances worked at John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels as an administrative assistant.

Frances was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she served as an usher, was a member of the Hospitality Committee, and was in charge of the Annual Senior Adult Luncheon, as well as the Thanksgiving Dinner. Known for being the consummate entertainer, Frances loved to bake cakes.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, left to cherish her memory are her sons, Phil “Sonny” Johnson, Vince Johnson (Rachel), and Pete Johnson (Shenika Williams); and six grandchildren, Ptah Garvin, Bakari Garvin, D’Auviyon Johnson, Jordan Wilson, Lil Pete Johnson, and Bode Johnson.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her daughter, Twanda Lynn Garvin.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.

I was so sad to hear of Mrs. Johnson’s passing. Her smile and laugh were so infectious and if you were around her she brought a smile to your face and simply made your day batter.
