Frances Marion Goodson Paris, 85, wife of the late Robert “Bob” Paris of Greenville, passed away Monday, August 23, 2021.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Bertha Goodson.
Frances lived a full life of family, friends, church and community. She was raised in the Dunean community where she married and later retired. She was a 1954 graduate of Parker High School. Frances married the love of her life Bob, and together they raised three children. As a devoted Marine wife of thirty years, wherever the family was stationed she made it a loving home. Frances later returned to school and received her college degree. She retired from the Greenville Law Enforcement Center.
Her lifelong loves were singing in the choir, volunteering and Dunean Baptist Church. She adored her Dunean community friends. Bob and Fran loved to host parties, celebrate special occasions and to generously support others’ endeavors. Frances was kind, supportive, hospitable, and generous. Frances was a true Proverbs 31 “wife of noble character”, with a gentle, kind hearted spirit. Yet in her daily walk with the Lord, this gentle spirit became a steadfast, fervent prayer warrior.
She is survived by sons, Steve Paris (Pat), Mike Paris (B.J); daughter, Rhonda Pugh (Jeff); grandchildren, Jason Paris (A.J.),Charlotte Wood (David), Nikki Ray (Joey), Morgan Clemente (Parker), Yvonne Rhodes (Josh), Matthew Paris, Richele Bussard (Ben), Andrea Duffin (Adam), Cody Pugh; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and loving husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ed Goodson and sisters, Lee Mitchell, Patsy Greene, Edith Hudgins, Ruby Kelley.
The visitation will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery West .
