Franklin “Frank” Delano Taylor, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on May 10, 1939, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late James Roy and Eran Holland Taylor.
Frank was a devoted husband to his wife, Lynda, with whom he shared a deep bond for sixty-one years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories. Frank was a pillar of strength and support to his wife, offering unwavering love and companionship throughout their journey.
As a father, he was an exceptional role model to his daughter, Janice “Jan” Madden and her husband, the Reverend Jerry Madden; his son, the Reverend Scott Taylor and his wife, Sonya. Frank’s love and guidance laid a strong foundation for his children’s lives, instilling in them the values of integrity, compassion, and hard work.
Frank found great joy in being a grandfather to his grandchildren, Bo Madden and wife, Jen, Justin Madden and wife, Amber, Ryan Taylor and wife, Alexis, and Reece Taylor. He took great pride in their accomplishments and relished the moments spent together, imparting wisdom and life lessons. He was overjoyed to welcome his great-grandchildren, Natalie, Julia, Riley, and Addison Madden into the family, cherishing the opportunity to witness a new generation.
Frank served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the Army. Enlisting on September 22, 1958, he rose to the rank of MP, where his dedication to duty and commitment to his fellow comrades were deeply admired. His military service exemplified his selfless character and his love for his country.
In his professional life, he worked diligently as an Inventory Control Manager in the manufacturing industry. He approached his responsibilities with utmost dedication and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and superiors alike.
Frank’s unwavering faith and commitment to his church community were of great importance to him. He was an active member of Praise Cathedral in Greer, SC, where he found solace, guidance, and a sense of purpose. His spiritual journey brought him immense comfort, and he shared his faith generously with those around him.
