George Milton Greer, 81, husband of Valeria J. Greer, of Greenville, died Thursday, April 14, 2022 at his home.

Born in Piedmont, he was the son of the late O. E. and Ruth Thackston Greer.

A 1959 graduate of Parker High School, George was a member of North Greenville Church. He spent 47 years in the trucking industry with Floyd and Beasley Transfer and retired as a terminal manager. A past member of the Taylors Lions Club, his hobbies included woodworking and doing crosswords. George was involved in the committee to erect the statue of Pete Hollis in Greenville. He was an avid collector who enjoyed sharing rare finds with the community.

In addition to is wife of 61 years, he is survived by two sons, John Patrick Greer (Keira); Jason Andrew Greer (Suzanna); and a sister Sandra Greer Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
